Active Citizenship Award

We are excited to share that the Read Write Now (RWN) Volunteer Coordinators have been nominated for the Citizen of the Year Award 2025 in the Group category. This prestigious nomination celebrates their incredible dedication in helping individuals overcome the challenges of low literacy.

The Citizen of the Year Awards, brought to you by Auspire – Australia Day Council of WA, honor those who make outstanding contributions to the community. Whether it's for their efforts in 2024 or their long-term service, these awards shine a spotlight on true community champions. The Award categories include:

- Citizen of the Year
- Citizen of the Year – Youth (16 to 30 years)
- Citizen of the Year – Senior (65 years and over)
- Award for Active Citizenship (Group or Event)

On Australia Day 2025, local councils hosted award ceremonies, and we are thrilled to announce that Read Write Now had two big winners:

- City of Perth Award for Active Citizenship (Group): RWN Volunteer Coordinators (State-wide)
- City of Bayswater Citizen of the Year (Senior): RWN Volunteer Coordinator Greg Elliott

This recognition highlights the incredible impact of the Read Write Now program and its volunteers in our community. Their dedication and hard work have made a significant difference in the lives of many individuals, helping them overcome literacy challenges and achieve their goals.
