 | DIGITAL LITERACY - KEEPING UP WITH TECHNOLOGY Read Write Now tutoring helps adults boost digital skills for everyday life — whether it’s gaining independence, accessing services, or getting back into or keeping up with studies.
As a partner in the WA Digital Inclusion Project, led by WACOSS, we work to reduce digital exclusion across Western Australia. Through this partnership, we help extend the project’s reach to more communities, support advocacy efforts, and provide practical assistance to learners and service providers. Together, we aim to strengthen access, build skills, and create opportunities for people who might otherwise be digitally excluded, ensuring they can fully participate in today’s connected world. |
 | MATH & FINANCIAL LITERACY Math literacy, or numeracy, is about more than numbers — it’s the ability to use math in everyday life. It supports problem-solving, reasoning, and making informed decisions. Without these skills, tasks like budgeting, measuring ingredients, or calculating travel time can be challenging. Improving numeracy helps adults manage daily life with confidence and reconnect with learning opportunities. For a closer look at how this plays out in adult learning, see Observations from City Metro Coordinators - supporting adult learners re-engaging with maths at TAFE. |
 | HEALTH LITERACY - UNDERSTANDING & MANAGING HEALTH Health literacy is the ability to obtain, understand, communicate, and use basic health information and services to make informed decisions. It includes knowing how to describe symptoms, find help for health issues, understand medical information, and manage medications safely. Improving health literacy empowers people to take control of their own health and advocate for the wellbeing of themselves and their families. |
 | FAMILY LITERACY - EMPOWERING ADULTS, INSPIRING CHILDREN Read Write Now helps parents, grandparents, and family members overcome literacy challenges and support children to succeed. Family literacy is about developing reading and writing skills throughout the household. When adults read to children and take part in fun literacy activities together, they not only maintain their own skills but also help children grow theirs. These shared experiences strengthen family connections and nurture a lifelong love of learning. Children who have strong adult support and a home rich in literacy are more confident, engaged, and better prepared to thrive at school. |
